Areas of Passion: Depression, Anxiety, Significant Life Transitions (Parenthood, New School, New Job), Trauma-related transitions, Childhood Trauma and Chronic Illness

Therapy Approach: I want to create a safe space in the therapy room where clients feel free to express themselves and further understand what is troubling them. I think it is important for clients to recognize how they can be the agent of change in their lives and I am just there to guide the process but, ultimately, they lead the way. I want to help clients make connections between their real-world experiences and the work they can do in the therapy room. I believe in past childhood experiences impacting current functioning and how the messages clients internalize can shape them. My hope is to help clients move through what they feel like is keeping them “stuck” and move towards healing. My love for learning extends into the therapy room as I find each client to be unique and teaches me something about the human experience!

Why I Became a Therapist: I have always had a heart for helping and listening to others. At a young age, I was very interested in the interworking of the lives of others and what they were experiencing. After completing my bachelor’s degree in Education, I found I was most interested in the psychology and family dynamics of my young students. I took this as an opportunity to pursue a Master’s in mental health which challenged me to understand myself more so I could further empathize with clients. I have found that my understanding of developmental stages has helped me to understand my clients more who have experienced trauma or distressing events during earlier parts of their lives.

Therapist Introduction: Mrs. Nikki Tucker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Accelerated Resolution Therapy trauma trained (ART), Administrative Supervisor, Qualified State of Florida Supervisor, has a passion for using other modalities aside from traditional talk therapy in her sessions to help clients move towards healing. She loves working with a wide range of populations from children to young adults and parents.

Mrs. Nikki’s goal is to make clients feel comfortable and provide a safe environment for them to process their challenges in a variety of ways (art, sand tray, play therapy, CBT based talked therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy)

Mrs. Nikki is compassionate, caring and dedicated to helping her clients reach their goals. Mrs. Nikki has had a passion for listening and working with others from an early age. She developed a true love for helping others through volunteering and tutoring children earlier on in her life. This love for helping others, especially children, led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Auburn University.

After her undergraduate experience, Mrs. Nikki pursued an opportunity working with children as a preschool teacher. Through teaching, she discovered an interest in her young student’s behavior as it related to their home life and innate personality.

Mrs. Nikki returned to school to pursue a master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Stetson University after two years of teaching. While completing her master’s, Mrs. Nikki worked with children, adolescents and adults at an outpatient counseling program in Orlando.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Mrs. Nikki has training in play therapy, expressive arts, sand tray therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. She has been verified by Psychology Today and is passionate about helping a wide variety of clients experience their own inner worlds through creative outlets and/or Accelerated Resolution Therapy, especially for those that may struggle with traditional talk therapy.

Mrs. Nikki is particularly passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents to increase communication, connection and understanding of how some of their behaviors impact relationships. Her additional areas of interest include using mindfulness and creativity with those that struggle with chronic illnesses. Mrs. Nikki’s training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) has also helped her develop new areas of interest and experience in working with client’s who struggle with trauma related mental health symptoms.
